Decide
on the Best Food Processor
Using 0 of 12 factors.Clear all:
Bowl Capacity
Bowl Capacity is especially important to consider when deciding on which food processor
would best suit your needs. Bowl Capacity is defined by the dry ingredients. The
type of cook you are and the quantity of food you typically make will assist you in
determining which bowl capacity would best suit your needs. If you make everything
from scratch(doughs, soups, sauces, etc) and in large quantities for a family of 4
or more, it is likely that a larger unit with larger capacity would fit your needs.
If you are a cook that is looking to simply chop an onion or tomato once in awhile
to add to a recipe and are only cooking for two people, then a smaller unit might
suit just fine. Ask yourself for what tasks will you use the food processor. A full
size model would be considered from 9-14 cups, a midsize processor would be from 6-8
cups and a processor with less than 5 cup capacity would be useful for small tasks
such as chopping.

Bowl Count
Versatility for a food processor is increased when another size bowl is included.
Larger tasks such as dough or a soup or sauce would work well in a 11-14 or larger
food processor, whereas to chop a handful or nuts or chop an onion for a recipe a
4-5 cup capcacity may be all that is required. Some food processors (esp the larger
models) include additional bowls of various sizes depending on the task.

Power
The more powerful the machine, the more easily it handles large tasks and the more
rapidly it completes them, without additional stress to the machine. It would be
most advantageous to have a machine that has higher wattage or more power.

Warranty
Warranty coverage on food processors varies by the manufacturer. Cuisinart seems
to have the best warranty coverage. Warranties extend from 10 year coverage on their
elite model’s motor and 3 years on parts down to 18 months on their smallest unit
that is a chopper. Other manufacturers warranties extend from 1-2 years.
